Colleges receiving Title IV funding are required to report incidents to OPE Campus Safety and Security Statistics for 358 categories. Data is available up to 2022. Raw incident counts are provided. Stat Sig Red Flags are raised if incidents exceed double the expected number of incidents with p < 0.05 significance. Among the 900 largest colleges, about half get at least one Stat Sig Red Flag, often in liquor-related categories. This data supports increased scrutiny of institutions like UC Berkeley. Despite university claims of no exceptional safety concerns, the data reveals a different story, placing UC Berkeley tied for 3rd most concerning safety record.

Examining data for all colleges collectively enables the identification of institutions with the most concerning safety records. Colleges displaying more than 5 Stat Sig Red Flags, representing approximately 10% of colleges, warrant thorough inquiry into student safety.
